Pool Volume Calculator
Knowing your pool's exact volume is the foundation of healthy water chemistry. Whether you are performing a seasonal salt top-up or shocking a green pool, accurate measurements prevent chemical wastage and save you money. Use our 2026 volume tool to calculate your capacity in Litres and US Gallons.
Formula: (Shallow End + Deep End) รท 2

How to Measure Your Pool Volume Like a Pro
Calculating volume is more than just length times width. For the most accurate chemical dosing, you must account for the average depth and the unique geometry of your pool.
Rectangular
Length x Width x Avg Depth x 1000
Circular
Diameter x Diameter x Avg Depth x 785
Oval
Length x Width x Avg Depth x 790
Why Average Depth Matters
Most Australian pools have a "spoon-shaped" bottom or a distinct shallow and deep end. If you only measure the deep end, you will over-dose your pool, which can lead to skin irritation and equipment damage. Always find the average by measuring both ends and dividing by two.
Dosing for Success
Once you have your volume in Litres, you can accurately apply pool salt, liquid chlorine, and stabiliser. Our recommended dosing guide above follows Australian industry standards for a healthy swimming environment (aiming for 4000ppm salt levels and a safe chlorine shock threshold).
